September 29, 2025 - Football Recap (Gentry Interview) - Volleyball Mid-Season Update (Bentonville, Fayetteville, Farmington, Pea Ridge and Prairie Grove Interviews)

Published on: 27th September, 2025

The football season has entered conference play, and the week saw Bentonville West use a dominating defensive effort to surprise Fayetteville. Elsewhere, Bentonville pulled away from Har-Ber in the second half and Rogers put away Fort Smith Northside with a very impressive defensive performance.

Among smaller schools, Greenwood continued its home winning streak after pulling away in the second half against Shiloh Christian in a rematch of last year's 6A title. Elkins won an early season showdown against formerly unbeaten Gentry, Huntsville handed Berryville its first defeat of the year and Prairie Grove notched its first win of the year over Green Forest.

In Oklahoma, the Jay Bulldogs posted the shock of the week over formerly unbeaten Verdigris in a 12-9 struggle that was the first win for Jay. Stilwell was close to Poteau before falling 31-30 and Wyandotte dealt Colcord its first defeat.

In Missouri, Monett won an offensive contest over McDonald County 50-40 while Webb City edged Neosho in a 46-43 nailbiter.

We also check in on several volleyball teams as the season hits the midway point. Bentonville would sweep Fayetteville in the first match between 6A contenders, while Farmington remained locked with Shiloh Christian in the 5A West and Pea Ridge is enjoying a breakout season, joining Prairie Grove, Gravette and Huntsville at the top of the 4A-1 Conference.

We also prepare for the upcoming state golf tournaments with a trip through our time machine as we look back to the 2020, 2015 and 2010 seasons. The girls' tournaments take place this week.
